After 25 Years, Dedicated Teammate Leaves Void at Company
We are deeply saddened of the recent passing of our long-time SCL family member Raul Evangelista. On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Raul passed with his family and friends by his side.
A resident of Eastvale, he is survived by his wife Elsa and three children, Vanity, John and RJ.
Raul will be remembered as a trusted team member that mastered the operation of the entire SCL fleet of vehicles. The ever professional, he was both soft spoken and respectful, always greeting others with a “Sir” or “Ma’am.” During his tenure with SCL, he portrayed boundless energy and dedication to his duty and on more than one occasion “delivered” in situations where critical infrastructure was at risk. Over his 25 years at SCL, he never compromised on safety while continuing to navigate the ever challenging freeways throughout Southern California.
Perhaps his greatest impact was felt across the Pacific through lifelong charitable efforts in supporting his native country, the Philippines. He served as president of Malasiquinians of America, organizing social and charitable events. Recognizing that rural villages, including his own, did not have ambulances Raul applied his grit and knowledge in organizing an intensive team effort to build ambulances in the United States that were sent to the Philippines as life-saving instruments.
“We must continue to work hard and work for a better tomorrow to achieve our dreams through better planning and a concerted team effort” – Raul Evangelista
We were fortunate to know Raul as he represented everything that SCL is about -- dedicated family man, kind teammate, humble in his work. He brought humility and brought passion and a commitment to serving customers. Most of all, he took pride in coming to work every day. It would not be an overstatement to say that he helped build this company. He will be missed dearly, and our thoughts are with his family.
Mabuhay (Long Live) Malasiquinians!
